Our paid & benefits-eligible trainee and rotational programs for recent graduates are hands-on and designed to develop the next generation of leaders at NFI.
Operations Trainee
In this 5-6 month rotation program, as an Operations Trainee, you will rotate through all functions within one of our distribution centers or transportation offices to gain a stronger understanding of both the supply chain industry as well as NFI's operations. During your rotations, you'll work through essential operations duties and gain hands-on leadership experience through shadowing and coaching. Key skills include leadership ability, effective communication, and a background in supply chain or knowledge of the industry.
After your program, this role leads to: Warehouse Operations Supervisor | Transportation Supervisor | Project Analyst | Inventory Control Supervisor | & more.
Sales Trainee
In this 5-6 month rotation program, as a Sales Trainee, you will rotate between our Distribution, Transportation, Brokerage, Account Management, Transportation Management, Port Service, and IDS teams to learn the business, industry, and what we sell before learning to sell it yourself. During your program, you'll also get exposure to sales calls, account management, and Quarterly Business Reviews. Key skills include supply chain knowledge, public speaking, and the capacity to learn.
After your program, this role leads to: Sales Executive | Account Manager
IT Trainee
In this 3-4 month rotation program. as an IT Trainee, you will rotate through our Distribution support, project delivery, EDI, and SCI teams to interact with multiple parts of the business and gain supply chain industry knowledge while developing as an IT professional. Key skills include a preferred background in either IT or supply chain, basic IT skills, familiarity with SQL, and data manipulation in Microsoft Suite.
After your program, this role leads to: Business Analyst | Application Support Specialist
Engineering Trainee
In this 1-year rotation program, as an Engineering Trainee, you will rotate through our Distribution and Fleet Services teams to gain industry knowledge and an understanding of process flow and design within our operations. During your program, you will get exposure to SQL, Python, Excel, and 3G/Navitrace. Key skills include LEAN exposure, Six Sigma exposure, general supply chain knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Suite, and soft skills such as communication and follow-through.

Student Internships
Our paid internships offer current college students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both corporate and field settings. Interns get the opportunity to be contributing members of their team, while learning and networking with industry leaders.
Corporate Internships
• Find roles in our corporate-based departments like Finance, Accounting, HR, Brokerage, Marketing, Fleet, Real Estate, and IT.
• Experience our Camden (NJ), Schaumburg (Chicago, IL), Chino (CA), or Irving (TX) offices.
• Network with local and executive leadership at NFI.
• Continue your career with NFI after graduation through our Rotational Trainee roles for recent graduates.
Operations Internships
• Get exposure to multiple parts of supply chain operations, such as inbound, outbound, VAS, shipping, inventory control, and dispatching.
• Gain mentorship from site and executive leadership.
• Visit other nearby sites to get visibility to a variety of operations experiences.
• Further develop your supply chain expertise after graduation through our Supply Chain Operations Trainee roles for recent graduates.

Driver Apprenticeship Programs
Our driver apprenticeship programs are designed and authorized by the US Department of Labor, featuring customized training based on your experience level. Experience hands-on, one-on-one training with our certified driver trainers to become a skilled NFI driver.

Driver Program - Experience Level
• 3-6 months of relevant tractor-trailer experience within the last year.
• Can be with two companies with no more than 30 days gap in between.
• May have or not attended driver training school.
• Requires a minimum 4 weeks training based on evaluated performance with a certified driver trainer.
Driver Program - Trailer Type
• Meets all NFI hiring criteria except for the type or length of trailer. Examples include dump, car carrier, and walking floor.
• Requires a minimum of 1 to 4 weeks of training based on evaluated performance with a certified driver trainer.
Maintenance Technician Programs
Our technician programs are designed and authorized by US Department of Labor, featuring customized training based on your experience level. We offer one-on-one programs that are perfect for recent vocational school graduates, veterans transitioning out of the military, or those seeking additional hands-on experience.
Diesel Technician Program
• Recent vocational program graduates for diesel engines and/or Class A tractors.
• While in the program, you will learn about preventative maintenance, tire replacement, brake inspection, and other diagnostic skills with a trainer.
• We will issue ASE study manuals and have a training tracker to help with passing T-4 & T-8 ASE certifications.
• Requires a minimum of 8 weeks of training based on evaluated performance by the site service manager.
• This program is limited by shop location - contact us for eligibility.
Technician Co-op Program
• Current vocational program students for diesel engines and/or Class A tractors
• While in the program, you will learn about preventative maintenance, tire replacement, brake inspection, and other diagnostic skills with a trainer
• We will issue ASE study manuals and have a training tracker to help with passing T-4 & T-8 ASE certifications.
• Requires all school sign-off forms, state clearances, and if under 17 years of age, sign-on by parents/guardians
• This program is limited by shop location - contact us for eligibility
